Seeing as 2020 is a big fail for travel (4 trips cancelled so far) I thought I’d reminisce about all of the trips I took back in 2019.
Poland – February
The first trip of the year was a long weekend in Krakow, Poland. It wasn’t that high up on my list but was a great surprise. Not only was it a really affordable trip, but the city was beautiful. While we were there, we ate lots of great food, explored the city, and took tours to the Salt Mines, and of course Auschwitz.
St Lucia – February
My trip to St Lucia was a special one indeed. It was my first time to the Caribbean, and the first time I flew business class! Virgin Business was amazing, definitely made the 9-hour flight bearable. Whilst in St Lucia we stayed at the gorgeous Sandals La Toc resort, explore the island towns, visited natural mud baths and waterfalls and did plenty of snorkelling.
Netherlands – March
In March I took a quick weekend trip to Amsterdam. I’d visited before, but this trip was actually a Christmas present from my (now ex) boyfriend. We stayed in a really cute Air Bnb just outside of the city centre, visited lots of sex museums, flower markets and coffee shops.
Italy – September
There was quite a gap during summer as I spent most of it between London and my hometown in Kent. However, in September I went on a two week trip around northern Italy. It was so beautiful and we visited so many places I’d been dying to go to. We started in Lake Como and then headed to Milan, Bologna, Florence, Pisa, Rome and Venice.
Russia – October
Russia was probably the trip I was most excited about and ended up being my favourite trip of the year. My good friend is Russian and so when she suggested we took a weekend trip to St Petersburg, I obviously agreed. Although getting my visa was a job in itself, it was 100% worth it. St Petersburg quickly became one of my favourite destinations. The trip was perfectly timed for me as I was going through a tough time in my personal life. Thankfully, I truly came back from this trip feeling happy, refreshed and bubbly again.
Spain – November
In November I took a weekend trip out to Barcelona to visit two of my best friends who live there. It’s always so much fun going out to visit them, and I love Barcelona as a city. I really love how you have the perfect blend of city life and beach life, plus this time I finally visited Park Guell which I really enjoyed.
Switzerland – December
For my final trip of the year, my best friend and I took a long weekend trip to Zurich. We had such an amazing time catching up, spending quality time with each other, and unwinding from our stresses back home. We spent a day in the Swiss Mountains and a whole afternoon at a gorgeous spa with the mountains for our backdrop.
